The Natural History Museum of the Mediterranean
via Roma, 234

The Natural History Museum of the Mediterranean is housed in the ancient Villa Henderson built at the end of the 18th century.

The exhibition areas, renovated and built from scratch in the 1980s by the architect Giuseppe Milanesi, are located in the modern building adjacent to the villa. Subsequently, other expansion works led to the creation of the Sala del Mare dedicated to Mediterranean cetaceans, the result of years of recovery and study of specimens stranded on the Livorno coast.

The Museum of Natural History of the Mediterranean offers over 7000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to the Mediterranean environment divided into 7 sectors.

5 are housed in the central exhibition building, where the Planetarium is also located, while two are located in adjacent buildings, at the inside the historical Park.

Outside, in fact, there is a Botanical Garden dedicated to the species of the Mediterranean area and an Ethnobotanical Garden where species of ancient fruit trees are collected.
